Christmas 2014 Decor Tour

You know what I love the most about Christmas? The feeling of hope that settles into your heart as the day approaches. It warms you from the inside out. Its like sipping slowly on the perfect cup of hot chocolate because you don’t want it to end.

The thought that over 2000 years ago, the Son of God was born here on earth just for us. As if babies aren’t wonderful enough, imagine God’s newborn Son. When I think about it I go speechless…

Whenever I hear “Silent Night” I get emotional. I mean, tears welling up in my eyes and I can barely breathe… emotional. If¬†that’s how I feel over 2000 years after His birth, imagine how Mary and Joseph felt. Amazing!

I’m so excited to share our Christmas decor with you ūüôā ¬†As always, I keep it frugal, festive and fun! December 1st is our family’s annual “Tree Day”. We go to Lowe’s (because we get the best quality for our money) and we bring home a tree. This year we picked this beauty. Isn’t she lovely :).

Originally we were going to put her in the living room so you can see her from the front of the house, but I went back to our plans from last year and put her in the sun room.

For $11 dollars, I picked up 20 feet of fresh white pine garland. Not only does it smell AMAZING, but it brings instant holiday cheer where ever you place it. Also, whenever you purchase a tree they trim a few branches off of the bottom before giving the stump a fresh cut. Always take home the trimmed branches to incorporate into your home decor.

I cut a few pieces off of the garland and incorporated them in vignette on our sun room buffet. The little Christmas tree is from the Target $1 spot. I placed a few shatter proof ornaments on top of Dollar Tree tea light holders around the vignette.

By just swagging a few feet of fresh pine garland dressed up with a few ornaments, you an bring instant holiday cheer to any room.

More beautifully scented pine garland along the mirror in the living room. I made this wreath last year out of coffee liners.

We don’t have a fireplace in the main living areas of our home, so we hang our stockings in the living room under the T.V. The “JOY” sign and the wooden reindeer are also from Targets $1 spot. Side note: that candle that is burning is by Yankee Candle. The scent is”Pine Berry”.The perfect scent for the holidays. I recently picked some¬†up on sale at Yankee Candle…3 for $28! ¬†WINNING!

I always enjoy adding a seasonal touch to the floating wall shelves in our dining area. This year I added a few springs of glittered branches that I got on clearance after Christmas last year. I added more ornaments and pine cones as well as some glass tea light holders.

As a centerpeice for our dining room table, I filled a serving bowl with a few sprigs from our tree and layered an assortment of ornaments, pine cones and pieces of glitttered faux branches. Gorgeous yet inexpensive.

Last year, I picked up a $4 faux pine wreath. With a glue gun, few ornaments, pine cones and glittered leaf garland I made a totally different wreath. For just a few dollars, I’m¬†able to remove the pieces year after year to create a different look.

That concludes our Christmas 2014 Home Decor Tour! My prayer is that the hope that we feel in our hearts this time of year stays with us all year long.
