Hey Amazing Moms!
Confession time: I’m a recovering chocoholic. There was a time in my life when I had to have a full bar of Cadbury chocolate every single day. In anticipation of my chocolate cravings, my very sweet and thoughtful husband would buy five bars of Cadbury chocolate every week…and I would inhale them all by Thursday. No Bueno. Thankfully, a lot has changed since then. I went on a juice only detox for two weeks and miraculously, my intense chocolate cravings disappeared! Does this mean that I no longer want chocolate…absolutely not! I’ve just learned to have chocolate in moderation by adding it to my favorite healthy foods. This is why I’m sharing this awesome protein power ball recipe with you. It gives me just the right amount of sweetness and chocolate plus lots of protein and healthy goodness. Here is the recipe to my new found addiction…um I mean…healthy snack (wink).
Protein Power Balls
Yields 24 balls. 120 cal. per ball. 4 grams of protein per ball
- 1 1/2 cups of chopped Quick Oats
- 1/4 cup ground Flax Seeds
- 1/8 cup Chia Seeds
- 1 tsp. Maca Root Powder
- 4 ground Medjool Dates
- 1 tbs Ground Cinnamon
- 2/3 cups Chopped Pecans
- 1/4 cup Dark Chocolate Chips
- 1/4 cup Dried Cheeries
- 1/3 cup Sweetened Shredded Coconut
- 1 cup plus 1 tsp Almond Butter
Remove the pits from the medjool dates. Blend the dates in a blender or food processor and set aside. Lightly blend the flax seed and the oats as well. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly. Add the blended dates and almond butter last. Combine with your hands. After the mixture begins to climb together, shape the mixture into 1 inch balls or 1 heaping tablespoon each. Refrigerate for 30 minutes and enjoy! The balls can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week
These tasty morsels are so good and so good for you! My 8 year old loves them just as much as my husband and I do. I eat 2-3 of these a day and they give me a great energy boost. Hope you try them!
Until next time! From one amazing mother to another,
