Hey Amazing Moms!
***Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own
Life has many joys and challenges. I think we all can agree that being a parent is one of the hardest challenges that we face. Being a mom is probably the most fulfilling yet exhausting role ever. There are always needs that must be met and clothes that need washing. Everyday there is a never ending list of demands such as:
Dates and appointments to remember;
Fights to break up
Life lessons that need to be taught
Tummies to be filled
Noses that need to be wiped
Shoe laces that need to be tied
Boo boos to be kissed
Bandaids to be applied
Prayers to be prayed
There are so many values to instill and the countless other responsibilities that culminate in (hopefully) raising great human beings. It’s tiring…but if I chose to do it all over again; I would do it exactly the same way. With exactly the same three little humans in the exact same birth order with exactly the same personalities and quirks. It’s amazing how God knows exactly what we need, isn’t it?
I want my children to have the same “silver lining” mentality when it comes to living life. I want them to see the joys and the pains and surmise that it’s all worth it in the end. I want them to enjoy the ride. I want them to see the rough edges and strive towards the smooth plains and love the whole journey regardless of the struggles. I am constantly teaching life lessons, but with kids sometimes its better to give visuals rather than rants (especially when dealing with 4, 5 and 7 year old boys). Looking at the smooth exterior of a beautifully crafted car and then opening the hood…that’s a life lesson. On the outside it may just seem shiny and easy; flawless and simple…but internally it’s a matrix of complicated parts covered in black oil; sharp edges, and cold contraptions. Together, all of the not so beautiful internal mechanisms work together to make a perfect, smooth running machine.
To further demonstrate the irony of how complications and hardships create beauty, I’m taking my four year old the the Washington Auto Show. I can’t think of a more awesome preschool at home field trip! I want him to see the beloved cars that he and his brothers admire up close and personal. I want him to touch the engines, feel the rough edges and realize that the complicated parts under each hood make for a beautiful masterpiece in the end. Oh, and of course we just want to check out all the latest features of the newest 2017 models because…well…they just really rock!
