We are moving right along with our studio office renovation. The closet wall has been removed, the walls and trim have been painted and the desks have been assembled. Take a look at how far we have come!
We knocked out the partial wall in the closet to open up the office nook. We also removed the wire shelf that was in the closet and puttied all the holes.
Then I began playing around with paint color swatches. We decided on Asparagus by Behr for the room and Nocturnal Sea for the nook which is also by Behr.
Then the hubbs got to work on painting the trim a clean ultra pure white to make the trim pop against the new colors.
Then we got to painting! I was in love with the color after the first coat, but we could tell early on that we would need a second coat. The color is fresh and vibrant, exactly what I will need to get me going when I’m blogging before the crack of dawn.
Here is the almost completed office nook. I am soo in love with this navy! Im thinking about using it in our master bedroom and bathroom. Its so smooth and sophisticated. A perfect contrast to the bright green.
Finally, here are some daytime pictures of the room with all the trim painted and the office nook frame completed.
Obviously those curtain panels must go, so I took a trip to JoAnn Fabrics and found this beautiful morrocan inspired navy and green fabric.
I plan on making some no-sew curtain panels for the window and maybe even a couple of miniature throw pillows to place in the window as a window seat.
I was so excited about the fabric that I went ahead and reupholstered our piano bench that will be in the studio. I. am. in LOVE!
After playing around with the furniture placement, we decided not to put the desks in the office nook. We would have to rewire and add outlets; something we are not willing to do right now. This wall gives us more space for our memo boards, calendars etc. We will be installing additional shelving on the wall above the book shelf to display our degrees, pictures and decorative accents. I’m hoping Santa brings me a MacBook Pro for Christmas :).
My husband assembled the storage system and placed it in the office nook. The crisp white looks gorgeous against the rich navy.We will also hang more shelving above the storage system to keep our personal office items and additional books.
That’s our progress for week two! If you didn’t catch week one of our studio office project, you can check it out here. Thanks for following along!
