Fresh popped popcorn. Warm, crunchy deliciousness. The perfect snack for lazy Sunday afternoons and family movie nights. The fact that it’s healthy, high fiber and low calorie only adds to the wonderfulness. Popping corn has become a staple in our family’s pantry due to the low cost and of course it’s yummyness!! There are a variety of ways that you can season it, but this vegan nacho cheese recipe is by far my favorite.
Vegan Nacho Cheese Popcorn
2tbs nutritional yeast
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbs vegetable oil
1/2 cup white popping corn
Combine nutritional yeast, chill powder, onion powder, sea salt, and garlic powder and mix ( if you have a magic bullet or smaller blender you can use this to combine the ingredients). I usually quadruple the recipe to make a batch that’s large enough to combine in my food processor, and I save it for later. Nutritional yeast is an great source of vitamin B12 that is usually found in meat and dairy products. B12 is essential to make DNA for new cells, form healthy red blood cells, and turn the food we eat into energy to power our metabolism. B12 gives you an automatic energy boost.
(I’m quite aware that this should say “Seasoning Salt” but I ran out of room on the label 🙂 )
Using a pop corn popper,pop 1/2 cup of white popping corn. Once finished, pour the vegetable oil over popcorn and mix well. Add the dry ingredients, shake well and enjoy!
